For all new homes or renovations it is compulsory to install tempering valves. When replacing a hot water unit you need to fit one. Tempering valve works by mixing hot and cold water together to supply tempered hot water no higher than 50 degrees.

The water temperature stored in your hot water unit has to be above 600C to prevent a breeding ground for Legionella.
It only takes a couple of seconds for a child to receive third degree burns from high temperature hot water.

This valve requires commissioning, maintenance and servicing as per A5 4032.3 and the manufacturers specification every 12 months by a qualified person.
